The Heart behind Botanical Love

From small beginnings
Botanical Love began with a simple desire: to create more space for time as a family.

After stepping away from teaching to raise our children, I started I to appreciate just how valuable time together really is. I wanted more of it with my family, more time to be there for the little moments and milestones that pass by so quickly.
​
At around the same time, a few life experiences changed our perspective and reinforced something we had already begun to feel: that time is not something we can take for granted, and we wanted to be more intentional about making each day count.

What we valued began to shift. We wanted to slow down, live more simply and spend more time together doing the things that brought genuine meaning and value to our lives.
​
I knew I still wanted to contribute financially, but I wanted to find a way to do it that worked around our family, rather than taking me away from it. I wanted to create something of my own, something creative, hands-on and flexible enough to grow alongside our family.

So I simply started with an idea, a willingness to learn and a husband who believed in it as much as I did. And slowly, Botanical Love came to be.
Where it began
By this point, I had already started making my own skincare at home from a desire to explore more natural alternatives. I was making things for myself and soon noticed a difference in the way my skin looked and felt. But just as importantly, I loved the process. I loved learning, experimenting and discovering what I could create for myself.

As our family began to rethink the way we wanted to live, this little creative project started to feel like it could become something more. I didn't know it at the time, but this was where the idea for Botanical Love began to take shape.
And then came the flowers
I started a floristry course because I wanted to learn something new and explore another creative outlet.

I loved creating flower arrangements during my floristry workshops, but I was disappointed to learn that many of the flowers I was working with had been grown interstate or overseas, travelling long distances before they even reached the wholesalers.

It made me stop and think. Surely there was another way to do things.
​
What if we could grow our own? What if we could handpick everything fresh, then arrange and deliver it on the very same day, while the flowers were still at their best?
So we gave it a go.
What started with a few plants gradually grew into something much bigger. We began transforming our two-acre property into a flower farm, planting a diverse range of Australian and South African native flowers, along with wildflowers that suited our little patch of land.
And somewhere along the way, growing the flowers became just as important to us as arranging them.
Where we are today
Today, Botanical Love is still a small family business, and that's exactly how we want it to remain.
We don't have a shopfront, and we don't operate like a traditional florist. Working online means we can keep our days flexible, spend time on the farm and with each other, and most importantly, keep Botanical Love aligned with the values and lifestyle we set out to create for our family.
