Ideal for normal to oily skin types

For centuries Indigenous people around the world have enjoyed the benefits of locally harvested clays. Minerals and trace elements in clay are known for their healing properties. Clay has been used to treat a range of skin problems ranging from dryness and irritation to oiliness and blemishes. It is known to draw out impurities, sooth irritation and deeply, yet gently cleanse skin of all types and ages.

In our clay masks we only use Australian clays, which are packed full of natural goodies unique to our beautiful country. Our Green Tea clay mask is ideal for people with oily and acne prone skin. It is made up of a combination of Australian clays that work to cleanse the skin, absorb excess oils and sooth irritation. With regular use, your skin will feel soft, smooth, and more radiant that ever.

Why a powdered mud mask? Great question… 2 main reasons

  • No preservatives: By not adding water from our end, we do not have to use a synthetic preservative (adding water to clay causes increased bacteria growth, so the natural preservatives did not prove effective long term in our trials).

  • The freedom to customise depending on your skin type: Everyone’s skin is different and can even vary from month to month. So this allows you to work with the skin you have. If your skin is feeling balanced, you can choose to simply add water to your clay. If your skin is feeling particularly dry, you may opt to add almond oil to your clay, or for even more hydration- a heavier oil like olive oil. Other popular choices to mix with clay include honey, yoghurt, avocado, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera juice, oat milk, coconut milk… and the list goes on. So by now you will get the picture… one of the best things about this mask is that it is jammed packed with all the natural goodies found in Australian clay that your skin needs to be nourished, and you also have the freedom to customise and experiment by adding other pure and natural ingredients to make the perfect mask for you today, that you can change tomorrow, and again the next day.

MEET YOUR INGREDIENTS

Come you inside our head for a wee minute, so you can understand the choices behind the clay mix that we have chosen and fallen in love with.

Australian Kaolin Clay

Australian White Kaolin clay features in both our mud mask blends. It is an incredibly soft, nutrient rich clay that is one of the mildest of clays available, making it suitable for almost all skin types. It has been used for centuries to gently draws out impurities and toxins from beneath the surface of the skin and absorbs excess oil that may clog the pores. It also works as a mild exfoliant to refine the surface of your skin to reveal softened, purified and clarified complexion. Some have found that regular use helps to balance their skin's oil production, reducing oily skin symptoms and restoring skin that has been damaged by frequent outbreaks of acne.

Australian Green Clay

Our Australian Green Clay mask is ideal for normal to oily/ and or acne-prone skin. This powerful clay soaks up excess oil, toxic substances and impurities that may clog pores and lead to acne and imperfections. Green Clay is a natural exfoliant that gently removes dead skin cells from the skin's outer surface, the epidermis. It helps to naturally exfoliate the dry skin layer and increase circulation. Green clay contains minerals like magnesium and potassium, making it a powerful, deep cleanser that helps to balance skin pH levels.

Australian Bentonite Clay

People have been ingesting this clay for thousands of years because it is rich in a variety of nutrients including Calcium, Magnesium, Silica, Sodium, Copper, Iron, and Potassium. Because of this potent cocktail of essential vitamins and minerals, it makes a highly effective, and good all-round ingredient in natural skincare. Applied topically, this powerful clay can help draw impurities and excess oil from the skins surface and assist in rebalancing the complexion.

Green Tea Powder

The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties in green tea may make it an effective treatment for acne and oily skin. According to research, the polyphenols in green tea, when applied to the skin, help reduce sebum secretion, which can lead to acne.

Himalayan Pink Salt

Pink Himalayan Salt is a natural antiseptic/disinfectant. It is particularly good for acne-prone skin as it is believed the disinfectant properties in the pink salt works to kill off the acne causing bacteria, helping to reduce breakouts. It is said to also balance oil production, detox the skin and exfoliates and removes dead skin cells.

Instructions for use

Mix equal parts powder and water in a small dish until a paste is formed. Other popular choices to mix with the clay include honey, yoghurt, avocado, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera juice, oatmilk or coconut milk. Apply the paste to a clean face with fingertips or brush. Let it sit for up to 10 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Follow up with a natural moisturiser to lock in hydration.
